A first very important step was the establishment of a local base for the project, which has been reached by supporting the union of the human resources operating in the area and interested in the project realization.

ArtePollino Cultural Association has been constituted after a series of seminar meeting and study-tours, started on February 2008, that allowed local group to compare themselves with association operating on a national and international level such as Arte Continua (San Gimignano), Arte Sella (Borgo Valsugana), Arte Fiera (Bologna), Cittadellarte (Biella), Rivoli Castle (Rivoli), Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation (Torino), PAN and MADRE (Napoli).

The association, presided over by Gaetano Lofrano, is made by over twenty persons of different ages operating and living in Pollino area, including a wide range of competences and experiences. There are tourist guides, tourist operators, restaurateurs as well as architects, engineers, geologists, art lovers, musicians, event managers. The members of the association, coming from almost all the villages of Basilicata side of Pollino, already produced a first formative cycle related to the project activities with the support of Basilicata Region. It was held on April 2008 and directed to the spread of contemporary art and "art in nature" among the schools of Pollino area involving almost 20 teachers and 200 students from 4 different schools. At the moment the association is actively engaged in a communication, divulgation and training project to be held in 2009 during the different stages of the project.
