ArtePollino project has got an ambitious and complex aim: to trigger a change of mentality in local context to put in action a new social and economic development process for all those communities living in the Park area by the help of prestigious contemporary artists.
That's why the artists selected by the scientific committee are all first-rate contemporary art personalities. Anish Kapoor, Carsten Höller and Giuseppe Penone are some of the key figures of today's art world.
The three artists each have created an installation in natural sites across the Pollino National Park which are connected with an itinerary for the visitor to follow. The artists' work becomes the guide leading the visitor through the suggestive and often
unpredictably changing landscapes of the Basilicata region whose natural environment as well as its historical and cultural heritage are still well preserved. It will be inaugurated at the beginning of July 2009.
