On the base of these considerations and thinking about an innovative approach to the theme of the development of the Lucania Area of Pollino, Basilicata Regione, in collaboration with the Ministry for Arts and Cultures, the Ministry for Economic Development and the Venice Biennale Foundation, undersigned in 2006 an addendum to the "Sensi Contemporanei" Plan Agreement by which it is to be held a specific intervention named ArtePollino.
This new project intends to increase the value of the environmental patrimony of Lucania area of Pollino National park through the actual realization of bio-compatible artistic intervention with the aim of enforcing the ecologist cause by introducing the new theme of contemporary art in the visit of the park.
Primary aim of the project is to change the way inhabitants and visitors look at the park, making clear that this can be the first step to build up a "new south".
Once the best human resources working inside the area get in touch with high qualified international organizations, they can increase the value and the potentialities already existing in this wonderful area. The purpose is to give inhabitants a better quality of life, to give birth to a new "competitive identity" able to differentiate this precious territory among the international landscapes so that visiting Pollino Park become a chance to "live a dream": not only a passive contemplation of landscapes and natural environment, but also a sort of active participation thanks to the contemporary artwork that are going to be realized.
